Class of 2023

David Millstein
Co-President, 2023-24
David was introduced to sailing at the age of 7 when his grandparents signed him up for a sailing school down the street from their house. He loved it so much that he continued to go back for the camp every summer for 8 years.

During college, he was the captain of the sailing club and winner of the 2018 University of Michigan regatta.
David loves sailing all sizes of boats, but 420s are his favorite. He is excited to be serving as Co-President of the Johnson Sailing Club.

Kyra Stiggelbout
Vice President of Brand Management, 2023-24
Kyra grew up on the water, racing J-24s with her family from the time she was born. When she turned 8, she moved full time onto a sailboat (Oyster 48) where she sailed around the world for a couple years. Since then, she has enjoyed visiting the boat where her parents still live and being on the water whenever she can.

Sam Flagler
Co-President, 2023-24
Sam was first taken out on a sailboat by his grandfather, shortly after he was born. At age six he started taking formal sailing lessons while participating in Little Egg Harbor Yacht Club’s Junior Sailing Program.
He competed in Optis and 420s from ages 8 through 16. After his competitive “career” was over he picked up coaching at the same institution that taught him how to sail – LEHYC’s JSP. Sam still enjoys spending his summers on Long Beach Island, NJ and getting out on the water (preferably in a sailboat)!

Sean Glennon
Vice President of Sailing, 2023-24
Sean learned how to sail J/22s at a young age from his father, and ultimately was bit by the sailing bug. During the summer, Sean regularly competes in Community Fleet Races on Sacandaga Lake; Sean also enjoys cruising around Lake George on 22s in the fall.

Mark Betancourt
Treasurer, 2023-24
Mark had never stepped foot on a sailboat until college; however, once he started, he was immediately hooked. He started on FJ's and 420's but soon switched over to bigger boats on the Offshore Sailing Team. For three years, he worked on learning as many positions as he could and had a great time doing it, even when running out of food on the trip back from Bermuda.
Unfortunately, Mark has not sailed much since undergrad, but is looking forward to sharing his skills with others and having a good time getting sunburnt on the water. Ready to tack?
