Club Calender

The Johnson community can get on the water a few different ways throughout the academic year:

• Attend a Fall Welcome or Spring Sail Away Event: The local sailing center in Ithaca is closed from around September 20 to May 20 each year. We recommend attending a Fall Welcome or Spring Sail Away event during our limited local season.

• Enroll in a Sailing PE Class: While the sailing center in Ithaca is closed to members, you can extend the season with a Cornell Sailing Class. There is a cap on the number of MBA students who can enroll so you must enroll immediately when class registration opens.​​

​

• Bid on a Sailing Adventure in Cape Cod: Donate to Johnson's Community Impact Auction with a bid on a 12-student trip out to one of our professor's boats. The auction happens each Spring so plan ahead and get a group ready for a group bid! 

​

• Enjoy a Seasonal Membership: If you'll be in Ithaca during the open sailing season from late May 20 to September, we recommend a seasonal membership. Once you pass a short test with a member of the sailing team to demonstrate you understand how to safely prepare and navigate a boat, you'll be cleared to check out boats on your own. Those that have taken a safety course with the center may also receive a discount on their memberships. (Website)

• Leadership Trek: In 2022, Johnson launched a sailing/scuba leadership trek for MBA students. You'll do 4-5 scuba dives a day and a concurrent leadership course. You'll liveaboard a 64-boat sailboat for the entire week. The trek is scheduled annually during April for Spring Break and is for both beginners and advanced divers.

• Travel to an MBA Regatta: Learn about the annual regattas held globally for MBA and MBA alumni below. Email johnsonsailing@cornell.edu if you are interested in attending a regatta or leading a boat. We will reach out to members when sign-up deadlines are near.
